Riserva Naturale Cavagrande del Cassibile

The Cavagrande del Cassibile is a 200 m deep limestone gorge south of Syracuse cut by the Cassibile river. The descent from the plateau reaches a series of natural turquoise pools connected by cascades — some of the clearest fresh water in Sicily. The gorge walls hold hundreds of necropolis caves carved by the Siculi people in the Bronze Age.
