Riserva Naturale di Rio Torsero
Liguria
Squeezed between greenhouses and the built-up coastal strip near Ceriale, this modest reserve protects one of the last surviving stretches of the marshland that once lined much of the western Ligurian coast before 20th-century development. Reed beds and small ponds attract migrating waders and songbirds finding little other stopover habitat along this stretch of coast. It's a quick, easy detour for birdwatchers passing through the Riviera delle Palme.
