Riserva Naturale della Sentina is the last remaining coastal lagoon-wetland complex on the entire Adriatic coast between Venice and Puglia — just 180 ha surrounded by tourist development. Despite its small size, 180+ bird species have been recorded. Spoonbill, little egret and glossy ibis use the lagoon in migration. The reserve is next to San Benedetto del Tronto — extraordinary biodiversity next to mass tourism.
