Riserva Monti di Palazzo Adriano e Valle del Sosio

Sicily

Between Palazzo Adriano — the village of "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso" — and Bivona, the Sosio has cut a gorge through Permian limestone that holds one of Europe's richest sets of 250-million-year-old reef fossils. Paths cross the reserve past the isolated Rocca Ficuzza tower and downy-oak woods, with the Cozzo Stagnataro and Monte delle Rose above.
