Riserva Naturale Monte Genzana

This reserve straddles beech forest and limestone ridgelines above the Gizio valley, and has long been a stronghold for the Apennine wolf, studied here since the 1970s. Trails climb from the medieval village of Pettorano through old-growth woodland to open ridges with views toward the Maiella and Sirente massifs.
