Riserva Naturale Monte Conca, Campofranco
Sicily
On Monte Conca the Gallo d'Oro stream vanishes into a spectacular "inghiottitoio" — a gaping sinkhole in white gypsum — and re-emerges lower down from a spring cave, together forming kilometres of galleries. A WWF reserve, with marked surface paths to the swallow-hole and spring mouths through garrigue and almond groves.
