The Riserva Biogenetica di Grotticelle near Camigliatello Silano is a strict nature reserve of 245 ha — old-growth Calabrian black pine (Pinus laricio) forest left completely unmanaged for 60 years. The trees are up to 500 years old and 45 m tall. The wolf pack of the Sila regularly uses the reserve. Middle spotted woodpecker and Tengmalm's owl nest. Dogs on leash on the perimeter path.
