Riserva Grotticelle di Monte Croccia

This limestone outcrop is honeycombed with small rock shelters and grotticelle once used by prehistoric communities and later by shepherds. It's now a protected site for the reintroduction of the endangered Egyptian vulture (capovaccaio), one of the few breeding programmes of its kind in southern Italy. Wild orchids bloom across the surrounding grassland in spring.
