Riserva Naturale Ghirardi

Emilia-Romagna

Tucked into the hills near Borgo Val di Taro, this reserve protects a mosaic of chestnut and oak woodland, hay meadows and small ponds that support an unusually high number of wild orchid species for the region. It's also a good spot for raptors, with honey buzzards and short-toed eagles passing through on migration between spring and autumn.
