The Ciane rises from deep blue pools ("the Testa della Pisima") and flows a few kilometres to the sea through a corridor of towering papyrus — the plant Hiero II is said to have received from Ptolemy. A flat path (and rowing boats) follows the bank past the pools and the ruined Temple of Olympian Zeus columns.
