The Riserva di Campotto near Argenta is the largest surviving freshwater marsh in the Po plain — 1,300 ha of reedbeds, sedge marsh and open water. Spoonbill, squacco heron, little bittern and night heron all breed here. The reserve has Italy's richest dragonfly fauna: 50 species including the red-veined darter and the violet dropwing. The flat walking circuit is completely suitable for dogs.
