Riserva del Monte Mesma, Ameno

Monte Mesma rises between Ameno and Bolzano Novarese, its chestnut and oak woods protected as a reserve. Cobbled mule tracks climb from either village to the convent on top, where a terrace looks out over Lake Orta, the Mottarone and — northward — the snows of Monte Rosa.
