Riserva di Cornino — Grifoni

The Riserva Naturale di Cornino in the Tagliamento gorge hosts Italy's first successful griffon vulture reintroduction, started in 1992. Over 80 birds now nest in the limestone cliffs above the turquoise Lago di Cornino. On warm mornings the vultures can be watched spiralling on thermals from the viewpoint above the lake. The Tagliamento — Europe's last wild river — flows 2 km below.
