Riserva di Cornino, Gemona

The Riserva Naturale del Lago di Cornino near Gemona is where the griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus) was reintroduced to Italy in 1991 after a century of absence. The colony now numbers over 100 birds and has spread across the Julian Prealps. The reserve walk reaches viewpoints where the vultures soar on thermals at eye level.
