Bosco Romagno, Bassa Friulana
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
The Tagliamento between Latisana and the sea is the last major European river flowing completely naturally without dams — called the 'mother of rivers' by river ecologists. The gravel bars support colonies of little tern and common tern. Little ringed plover and oystercatcher nest on the braided channels. The Bosco Romagno reserve on the river bank is old riparian forest with deer and wild boar.
