From Cicogna the trail follows the Rio Pogallo up a wooded ravine, crossing it on old bridges, past the abandoned hamlet of Pogallo and the logging-era mule tracks, to In La Piana. There are no facilities, no phone signal and no easy escape — the Val Grande at its most authentic.
