Rifugio Gherardi, Val Taleggio

From Peghera or Pizzino a mule track climbs through beech wood and hay meadows to the Rifugio Gherardi at 1,650 m, on a green balcony under the Aralalta and Baciamorti ridges. The Val Taleggio below is the home of its namesake cheese, and the alpeggi around the refuge still make Strachitunt.
