From Fontainemore the path climbs past the Lago Vargno reservoir and the Santuario di Coumarial into open ridge country dotted with peat tarns, then follows the watershed to Rifugio Coda on its airy saddle. The view runs from the Po plain to the Monte Rosa glaciers.
