Rifugio Andolla, Val Antrona

From Cheggio the path climbs through larch and then boulder terrain into the cirque below the Andolla, a peak the Swiss call the Portjengrat. The refuge on its rock terrace is a mountaineering base but also a fine hard day-walk, with marmots, tarns and total silence.
