Vulture — Rapolla Wine Walk
Basilicata
The Vulture volcanic massif above Melfi produces Aglianico del Vulture DOCG — Basilicata's most celebrated wine. The walk from Rapolla through the vineyards to the Norman castle at Melfi passes underground wine caves cut into the volcanic tuff and a landscape that has changed little since Frederick II held his court here in 1220.
