Randazzo — Città Nera dell'Etna

Randazzo sits closer to Etna's crater than any other substantial town, and its churches and houses are built almost uniformly from the black volcanic stone quarried from the mountain's many lava flows, giving it a distinctive dark character among Sicilian towns. Flat streets link the main lava-stone churches, with the volcano looming close behind.
