Radicofani — Rocca di Ghino di Tacco

Radicofani's fortress crowns a steep volcanic hill directly on the historic Via Francigena pilgrim route, once held by Ghino di Tacco, a real bandit later immortalised as a folk hero in Boccaccio's Decameron. The climb is steep but short, with a view over the southern Val d'Orcia unmatched by the gentler towns nearby.
