Punta Mesco

Liguria

Punta Mesco juts out from the coast between Levanto and Monterosso as the westernmost tip of the Cinque Terre park, its cliffs dropping sheer into the Mediterranean below a ruined watchtower and semaphore station. The trail out to the point crosses Mediterranean maquis scented with rosemary and broom, with views encompassing all five of the Cinque Terre villages on a clear day. It's also a well-known migratory bird bottleneck, drawing birdwatchers each autumn to count raptors funneling along the coast.
