Rocca di San Colombano, Pavia
Lombardy
San Colombano al Lambro (148 m) is the only natural hill in the entire Po plain between Milan and the Apennines — a limestone inlier surrounded by flat farmland. The medieval village on the summit has the Mezzabarba family wine cellars (15th century). The panorama of the Alps is extraordinary — Monviso to the Ortler visible. Blue rock thrush on the cliff. Dogs on leash near the village.
