Predazzo, Val di Fiemme
Trentino-Alto Adige
Predazzo in Val di Fiemme is the geological birthplace of 'dolomite' — the French geologist Déodat de Dolomieu analysed rock samples from here in 1791 and identified a new mineral he called dolomite. The valley has extraordinary rock exposures showing the contact between Permian volcanics and Triassic limestone. The Museo Geologico delle Dolomiti in Predazzo tells the story. The Avisio river trail has otter. Dogs off-leash.
