Reaching the actual depths of this cave system requires technical vertical caving, but the walk up to its entrance shaft on the wooded Matese slopes above Campochiaro is a worthwhile hike in its own right, through beech forest riddled with smaller sinkholes and shafts. Local guides occasionally run supervised entrance visits.
