Porto Torres — Basilica di San Gavino & Porto Romano

Porto Torres grew from the Roman colony of Turris Libisonis, and its 11th-century Basilica di San Gavino — built partly with Roman columns salvaged from the older city — remains one of the largest Romanesque churches on the island. Nearby, the Antiquarium Turritano and scattered Roman ruins (baths, a bridge still in use) make an easy, level walk through layered history right in the modern port town.
