Costa di Porto Badisco, Otranto Sud
Puglia
Porto Badisco is a small limestone cove south of Otranto where ancient tradition holds that Aeneas landed in Italy (Virgil's Aeneid). The Grotta dei Cervi above the cove has the largest concentration of Neolithic cave paintings in the Mediterranean — 20,000 red ochre figures (not publicly accessible but visible from outside). The coastal path gives views of Albania 80 km across the Adriatic. The sea is exceptionally clear.
