Ponte di Veja
Veneto
This 50-metre-wide limestone arch is the collapsed remnant of an ancient cave system, left standing after the roof around it eroded away over millennia. It sits in a quiet fold of the Lessinia plateau near Sant'Anna d'Alfaedo and reputedly inspired a scene in Dante's Inferno; local legend says the poet passed through on his travels.
