Pollara is the western remnant of an old explosion crater, its inner wall a curve of pink tuff with cave dwellings cut into it and a pebble beach below (reached by a long, crumbling stair). The village on the rim, its caper fields and the sunset over Filicudi featured in "Il Postino".
