Poggio di Moscona
Tuscany
Rising behind Scarlino, this hill was worked for copper and iron since Etruscan times, and old mine shafts and slag heaps still turn up along the trails. Cork oak and Mediterranean scrub cover the slopes, opening at the summit to views across the Gulf of Follonica toward Elba. It's a quiet counterpoint to the busier coastal reserves nearby.
