Valle Santa, Po di Primaro, Ferrara
Emilia-Romagna
The Valle Santa near Argenta in the Po delta is a low-lying freshwater lagoon and flood meadow — one of the few remaining examples of pre-drainage Po floodplain. Corn crake (globally declining, very rare in Italy) has been recorded calling here in May–June. Purple heron, little bittern and great reed warbler all breed. The dyke walk is flat and gives close views into the reeds.
