The Pineta di Policoro near Policoro on the Ionic coast of Basilicata is the last surviving coastal forest in the region — a stone pine and poplar forest at the mouth of the Sinni river. Loggerhead turtle nesting on the beach (monitored). Sea holly in the dunes. White-tailed eagle occasional in winter. The Museo della Siritide (Greek colony Siris) is in the village. Dogs welcome on the forest path.
