Pietrapertosa — Volo dell'Angelo
Basilicata
Pietrapertosa (1,088 m) is the highest village in Basilicata, built on and into sandstone spires of the Lucanian Dolomites. The 'Volo dell'Angelo' zipline crosses 1,415 m to sister village Castelmezzano. The via ferrata to the upper fortress passes through Saracen-era rock-cut passages. The morning mist that fills the valley below leaves only the two sandstone towers visible — an extraordinary sight.
