Piano di Spagna, Colico

The Piano di Spagna wetland at the head of Lake Como near Colico is the most important inland wetland in Lombardy. The reserve has breeding colonies of night heron, little egret and purple heron. In autumn, osprey and marsh harrier concentrate. The lake is fed by the Adda river from the Valtellina — the reedbed is the largest in the Larian basin. Dogs on the outer path only.
