This wide upland basin sits above 1,500 metres between the Sirente and Velino ridges, its treeless expanse dotted with sinkholes and grazed by semi-wild horses in summer. The plain gives an easy, panoramic approach to the steeper trails climbing Monte Velino, with views stretching to Gran Sasso on clear days.
