Pian Perduto

Lying just north of the better-known Piano Grande, this smaller upland plain shares the same karst-basin origin and traditional lentil and grazing use, without drawing anywhere near the same crowds during the spring bloom. Cattle and sheep still graze the flat expanse much of the year, watched over by the same Sibillini ridgeline that towers above Castelluccio. It's a good quieter alternative during the peak flowering weeks.
