Palazzo Farnese, begun in the 16th century and never fully completed, still dominates one side of Piacenza's historic quarter, a short walk from Piazza Cavalli, named for the pair of celebrated bronze equestrian statues of Farnese dukes that stand there. The streets connecting them are flat, level and easy.
