Passo dello Stelvio — Sentiero Storico
Trentino-Alto Adige
The Passo dello Stelvio (2,758 m) is Europe's second-highest paved mountain pass and among the most famous cycling roads in the world. The summit plateau gives views of the Ortles (3,905 m), the Adamello and the Bernina massif. WWI military positions (Austrian-Italian front) are preserved along the short summit walk — the pass was a strategic military objective from 1915–1918. Dogs freely roam the plateau.
