Passo Rolle, Pale di San Martino

Passo Rolle (1,989 m) is the approach to the Pale di San Martino — the wildest and highest plateau in the Dolomites. The Pale plateau (2,400–2,600 m) is a flat limestone moonscape above the tree line. The pass itself has extraordinary views of the Cimon della Pala (3,186 m) and the surrounding towers. Chamois and ibex resident. The golden hour light on the Pale is extraordinary.
