Passo Pramollo
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
This pass on the Carnic Alps border was another contested front in WWI, and the surrounding ridges still carry the scars of trenches and gun positions built into the karst rock. Summer brings a spectacular bloom of orchids and gentians across the pastures, and the ridge trail gives views into both Italy's Val Canale and Austria's Gailtal.
