The Valle di Rose above Opi in the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise is the single best place in Italy for Marsican brown bear — the population is ~50 individuals and dawn visits to the valley give very high sighting probability. Apennine chamois are numerous. Golden eagle overhead. The valley is enclosed by karst ridges. Dogs on leash (park rules).
