Along the watershed between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, this park protects a chain of rounded summits over 2,000 m — Monte Cusna, Alpe di Succiso, Monte Prado — dropping to small glacial lakes like Lago Pratignano and Lago Scaffaiolo. Wolves recolonised the ridge in the 1990s, and old beech forest gives way above the treeline to open pasture with some of the best 360° views in the northern Apennines.
