Sasso di Castalda, Appennino Lucano

Sasso di Castalda (985 m) is a village built on a limestone spur in the Appennino Lucano National Park. A steel suspension footbridge ('Ponte alla Luna' — Bridge to the Moon) connects the village spur to the opposite cliff at 90 m height. The valley below is the habitat of the resident wolf pack. The surrounding Appennino Lucano park is one of the newest national parks in Italy (2007).
