PNALM — Sentiero del Lupo, Villetta Barrea

The Sentiero del Lupo near Villetta Barrea in the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise follows the territory of the Barrea wolf pack — one of the most studied wolf packs in the world. The park was established in 1922 specifically to protect the Apennine wolf. The Apennine brown bear (different subspecies from the Carpathian bear) also lives in the park. Marsican bear sightings near the trail are not uncommon.
