Sentiero del Lupo, Parco d'Abruzzo
Abruzzo
The Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise saved the Italian wolf from extinction in the 1970s — today 50-60 wolves live inside its boundaries. The Sentiero del Lupo (Wolf Path) crosses the core zone through beech forest where Marsican brown bears, Apennine chamois and golden eagle all breed. Founded 1922.
