Parco Naturale dello Sciliar-Catinaccio

Established in 1974 as the first of Alto Adige's seven nature parks, this reserve joins the sheer-walled Sciliar plateau — its silhouette visible from most of the Alpe di Siusi — with the jagged Catinaccio (Rosengarten) group, added to the park in 2003. Legend ties the Catinaccio's sunset-pink glow to King Laurin's rose garden, and the park's 790 recorded plant species range from the Alpe di Siusi's meadows to bare Dolomite rock above.
