Parco Naturale Regionale di Portofino

Established in 1935 as one of Italy's earliest protected areas, the park covers the whole wooded promontory east of Rapallo — holm oak and Aleppo pine giving way to Mediterranean scrub on the exposed clifftops, with a network of trails linking Portofino's harbour to the abbey cove of San Fruttuoso and onward to Camogli. A marine protected area extends the park into the sea below the cliffs.
