Monti Simbruini — Jenne Canyon

The Parco Naturale Regionale dei Monti Simbruini (30,000 ha) is the largest park in Lazio — a beech forest massif rising to 2,156 m. The Aniene river canyon above Subiaco cuts through the park. Wolf, roe deer and wild cat are all resident. The Subiaco monasteries (the first Benedictine monasteries in history, founded by St Benedict c.500 AD) are in the valley. 1 hour from Rome by car.
