Parco Monti Lucretili

Lazio

The Monti Lucretili were the country retreat of the poet Horace, who described them as 'that corner of the world that smiles at me above all others.' Today the regional park of beech and oak forest above Licenza is still barely visited, home to wolves and wildcat. An hour from Rome but a world away.
